Lions are moving forward to play Lubbock Christian this Friday, Feb. 26th at 7:30pm at Merkel High School in Merkel, TX, a neutral site, in the Regional Playoffs.

Lions beat Dallas First Baptist Academy Tuesday night 74-59. Junior Taelor Hawkins, Shooting Guard was the leading scorer with 35 points.

“Grace Prep will give everything they have to defeat Lubbock Christian,” said Hawkins.

The team invites all GPA fans out to cheer them on.

“The Lubbock fans will be very intense so our fans will need to step it up to keep us pumped and going,” Hawkins said.

Defense is the key to winning, according to Point Guard, Senior Peyton Picou, who scored 9 points against First Baptist Academy.

“If we play defense how we are supposed to, that makes it easier for us to score, and makes us hard to stop,” said Picou.

The Lions gave it their all Tuesday vs. FBA. It was a scrappy win, according to the team. We are one of 8 TAPPS teams left in the state still playing.

“This is really special because it is showing how hard we worked throughout this whole season, and even though we have to keep working hard to get through the finish line first, that is what we are going to do,” said Hawkins. “There is no doubt about it.”
