Key Club serves at the Lauren Daigle concert
Key Club volunteers at some pretty interesting places. Heartis Assisted Living Center is one place we serve the elderly, and Mission Arlington is always a great place we serve at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Another of their favorite places to serve is at concerts. Throughout the year, Key Club attends various concerts. Once there we ask sponsors to sign up to help Food for the Hungry.
This October, eight members signed up to serve at the Lauren Daigle concert, at the Verizon theater in Grand Prairie on her tour for her new album “Look Up Child.” This album featured her new song “You Say” which, according to Billboard, has been in the Top 100 songs for 19 weeks. Since the tour, Daigle has made an appearance on the Ellen show and her song “Rescue” was used in Season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy.
During intermission, the Key Club members in green volunteer vests ran up and down the aisles and made sure to give packets to all the individuals who raised their hand to sponsor a child. This means that children all over the world will now be able to afford the food that they need and the education they so deeply desire.
. The monthly sponsorship cost goes to providing clean water, food, and clothes to children in communities in dire need. FH is building wells and teaching people how to grow food so that eventually these communities will be stable enough to provide for themselves.
Key Club has worked with Food for the Hungry at concerts many times in the past few years, and members love doing the Lord’s work through unique opportunities just like this one!
“I always enjoy working with Food for the Hungry… I love seeing how God can work in that big crowd of people to sponsor so many kids and provide a better life for them,” said Senior Hannah-Grace Scarborough, who served at the concert.
Not only do Grace Prep Key Club members get the satisfaction that comes with serving; they also get a free concert! Over the years members have seen Tobymac, Skillet, Colton Dixon, and now, Lauren Daigle.
Mrs. Brudi and the members of Key Club enjoy serving in the surrounding community, and when it includes little perks like free concerts, that is just another reason to give thanks.
