I’m standing right here

Looking at the waves

Trying to understand

Whether anything makes sense

I see people laughing everywhere

With their families or their friends

And everything

Seems to have changed

And the sun

Seems to shine brighter

And the kids

Seem to laugh louder

Oh maybe everything

Is going to be alright

So you and I

Are never again going to cry

It’s not just about us

It’s about everyone from the past

It’s about the people who cried

The people who fought

And the people who died

A little bit every night

And that was the future

Or so we thought

People are a little happier now

A little less sad

A little less mad

A little better than they thought they were.
